What options are available for traveling between the start in Marysville and the finish at Lake Mountain?
Marysville is located 22 km's from Lake Mountain. It is the responsibility of each individual rider to make their own arrangements to travel between Marysville and Lake Mountain. We would suggest one of the following options –
- Park your car at Lake Mountain prior to the event and ride the 22 km downhill to the start in Marysville.
- Ride back into Marysville at the conclusion of the event.
- Arrange to have a support person meet you at Lake Mountain at the conclusion of the event.
What car parking options are available?
- Marysville Temporary Village site - located approximately 2 km's from Marysville on Marysville – Buxton Road. The event stars directly across from this site at the Marysville Community Golf and Bowls Club. Car parking attendants will be in place from 7.00am to assist you.
- Lake Mountain – a number of car parks are located at various points up Lake Mountain. The event starts 22 km from the top of Lake Mountain.
How can I support Marysville and surrounding communities affected by the bushfires?
The best way to show your support for Marysville and the surrounding communities is to return to the area and visit the local businesses. We encourage all participants to book accommodation in the area on the weekend of the event. Purchasing meals, petrol and other items whilst in town will be a great boost to the local traders. In addition, consider visiting Lake Mountain during snow season with friends and family.
How does the electronic timing work?
If you have requested to have your event time recorded electronically (this is done when entering) you will be issued with a light weight transponder prior to the event. The transponder is attached to the front fork of your bike and records your time as you pass over the timing mats at the start and finish of the event.
Transponders will be available for collection as follows –
- Friday 1st May between 6.00pm and 8.00pm at the Marysville Community Golf And Bowls Club.
- On event day from 7.00am at the registration marquee
Are there any pre-event functions I can attend?
The Marysville Community Golf and Bowls Club will be the official pre-event venue on Friday evening. $25 for a 2 course spit roast carvery dinner with drinks available at bar prices. The catering will be provided by several local chefs who lost their business in the fires. The bar will be operated by the Marysville Community Golf and Bowls Club.
All participants and their family and friends are welcome to attend and show their support for those badly affected by the fires.
